Linus

  • First appearance: September 19, 1952
  • The benevolent, blanket-clutching philosopher always has a kind word for everybody…even his bossy older sister, Lucy. While he’s often the voice of reason in the neighborhood, Linus also believes firmly in the Great Pumpkin, and he suffers more than most when people (or pumpkins) let him down.

Latest appearance: October 30th, 2015 / First appearance: November 1st, 1968 Charlie Brown and Linus stand at the wall. Charlie Brown asks, "Well, did you see the 'Great Pumpkin' last night?" Linus replies, "Ha!" Linus continues, "All I saw was my bedroom! Gramma was baby-sitting, and she wouldn't let me stay out in the pumpkin patch . . ." Charlie Brown says, "She made you come in? Linus responds, "Maybe she's lonely and has nowhere else to go . ." Charlie Brown frowns and says, "That sounds like my whole team . Linus continues, "Now you take your bottom hand and put it on top . . . Then I take my bottom hand and put it on top, and so on . . . see?" Lucy asks, "What's going on?" Charlie Brown replies, "Linus is trying to get his blanket back from that cat! He's going to drop on top of him from the helicopter." Linus asks, "Is 'get lost' one word or two?" Latest appearance: December 5th, 2000 / First appearance: February 5th, 1975 Linus sits in a beanbag and watches tv. Linus sinks down in the beanbag and sleeps. Linus faces the opposite direction in the beanbag. Linus asks, "All right, who moved the tv?!" First appearance: October 9th, 1978 Sally and Eudora watch Linus walk by with his blanket. Eudora asks, "Who's the kid with the blanket?" Sally replies, "That's Linus . . . He's my sweet babboo . . ." Linus shouts, "I'm not your sweet babboo!!" Sally says, "He is, but he isn't, but he is!" Violet approaches Charlie Brown and Lucy. She says, "You can do it, Charlie Brown..we're all behind you!" Lucy says, "That's right, Charlie Brown..we're with you..pitch it to 'im, boy! Linus, my serious side, is the house intellectual, bright, well-informed which, I suppose may contribute to his feelings of insecurity

    Every Halloween night Linus can be found in a pumpkin patch, awaiting the arrival of the Great Pumpkin.

  • Baseball

    Linus is known for making some incredible plays on the diamond, including turning two with short-stop Snoopy.

  • His blanket

    The epitome of security, Linus’s blanket also proves to be an excellent sling shot.
