Woodstock

  • First appearance: April 4, 1967
  • The fluttering, sometimes sputtering, little yellow bird is Snoopy’s sidekick, whether it’s as faithful mechanic to the World War I Flying Ace, stalwart secretary to the Head Beagle, or root beer drinking buddy. Chirping in a language only Snoopy understands, Woodstock and his feathered friends are never far from Snoopy’s doghouse.

First appearance: December 25th, 1978 Snoopy sits atop his doghouse thinking,"Five gold rings, four colly birds." He jumps down and continues,"Three French hens." He walks along the lane continuing,"Two turtle doves." He smiles up at Woodstock sitting in a tree and concludes,"And Woodstock in a birch tree!" Sally smiles and continues, "If you'll all go to the windows, you'll be able to see him take off in his famous helicopter!" Snoopy lies on his back atop the doghouse. Woodstock approaches him. Woodstock flies through the 'Z' balloon and cuts it in half. The 'Z' balloon comes back together off-balanced. Snoopy wakes up with a grimace. He sits up and thinks,"That'll stir up the ol' migraine!" First appearance: February 26th, 1983 Woodstock asks a question. The Foreign Legionnaire thinks, "How do we know where we're going? We follow the moon!" The Foreign Legionnaire thinks, "Remember, the moon is always over Hollywood, and Needles isn't far from Hollywood." Olivier asks a question. Snoopy thinks, "No, Olivier, if we get near Paris, we can't stop . . ." First appearance: February 23rd, 1983 Woodstock and three other birds follow the Foreign Legionnaire. The Foreign Legionnaire thinks, "Here's the World Famous Sergeant-Major leading his troops to Needles to save his brother who is surrounded by coyotes . . ." Snoopy lies on the doghouse while Woodstock sits on his stomach. You see things you never thought could . . ." Snoopy runs into the room, grabs Linus's blanket with his mouth and drags Linus out of the room. Rerun says, ". . Happen." Woodstock knows that he is very small and inconsequential indeed. It’s a problem we all have. The universe boggles us…Woodstock is a lighthearted expression of that idea.
