Woodstock

  • First appearance: April 4, 1967
  • The fluttering, sometimes sputtering, little yellow bird is Snoopy’s sidekick, whether it’s as faithful mechanic to the World War I Flying Ace, stalwart secretary to the Head Beagle, or root beer drinking buddy. Chirping in a language only Snoopy understands, Woodstock and his feathered friends are never far from Snoopy’s doghouse.

  • Did you know: Woodstock was first seen in the strip in 1967 but was named in 1970 after the summer music festival.

First appearance: December 21st, 1986 Rerun stands in the snow-covered field and smiles at his snowman. Woodstock flies along and lands on one of the sticks/hands of the snowman.He chrips to it. He waits for a reply from the snowman. He moves closer to the face of the snowman and chirps again. He hops along in the snow. He sits next to Snoopy on top of the doghouse. The Fierce Pirate thinks, "His faithful parrot flies toward him to perch on his shoulder . . ." He continues,"You don't happen to know where we could round up a good fiddle, do you? First appearance: July 22nd, 1977 Woodstock and Snoopy sit on the doghouse. Woodstock cleans shaving cream off himself. Snoopy thinks, "Sorry!" Snoopy thinks, "I got a little carried away there with the shaving cream." Snoopy holds out the can and continues to think, "Here, you'd better do it yourself . . ." Woodstock completely covers Snoopy with shaving cream. First appearance: November 26th, 1999 Woodstock and Snoopy are sitting on Snoopy's house. Snoopy thinks, "You ate a worm and pretended it was a turkey?" Snoopy puts his arms out and thinks, "Who got the drumstick and who got the wishbone?" Snoopy begins to laugh hysterically... Woodstock then kicks Snoopy off the house. Latest appearance: January 28th, 2001 / First appearance: January 28th, 1973 Snoopy, with his upper dish on his head, walks up a snow covered mountain, accompanied by Woodstock. They stand gazing over the edge of the hill. Snoopy thinks, "Hang on!" They are now seated in the dish. "Here we go!" They sail down the steep slope. WHEE! The continues to fly. All they ever do is fly around . ." Snoopy, Woodstock and another bird sit on the ground playing cards. Snoopy thinks, "What did she say?" Woodstock thinks of his cards. First appearance: November 30th, 1984 The Literary Ace sits on the doghouse and types, "He was a huge man with a fierce and wild expression, and eyes." Woodstock stands on the typewriter. Snoopy types, "like." Snoopy types, "a teeny tiny little yellow bird." Snoopy rolls his eyes and throws a crumpled piece of paper over his shoulder. Latest appearance: December 16th, 2001 / First appearance: December 16th, 1973 Snoopy lies on top of his doghouse. He continues to lie there as snow falls. The ground, doghouse and Snoopy are now fully covered in snow. Woodstock approaches. With a rope, he scales a snowy side of the doghouse. Woodstock struggles on the hill of Snoopy's nose. He places a small banner marking his achievement on top of Snoopy's nose. With First appearance: September 20th, 1990 Woodstock and three soldiers follow the Foreign Legionnaire across the desert. A beach ball rolls behind them. Snoopy thinks, "It's very embarrassing for a squad of tough legionnaires to be followed across the desert by a beach ball . ." Snoopy carries the beach ball and thinks, "Especially when it gets tired, and I have to carry it . ." First appearance: October 6th, 1990 Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Woodstock jump into three different piles of leaves. All three piles are different sizes relative to the jumper.
