Woodstock

  • First appearance: April 4, 1967
  • The fluttering, sometimes sputtering, little yellow bird is Snoopy’s sidekick, whether it’s as faithful mechanic to the World War I Flying Ace, stalwart secretary to the Head Beagle, or root beer drinking buddy. Chirping in a language only Snoopy understands, Woodstock and his feathered friends are never far from Snoopy’s doghouse.

First appearance: May 18th, 1984 Woodstock and Snoopy sit on top of Snoopy's doghouse. Snoopy thinks, "You were supposed to be a harbinger of spring, and you missed it by two months!" Woodstock is shocked. Woodstock leans over the side of the doghouse. Snoopy thinks, "That's right . . Hang your head in shame . . . " Woodstock falls off the edge of the doghouse. Snoopy jumps. Snoopy lies down on the dog First appearance: May 2nd, 1976 Snoopy is wearing a hat and carrying a fishing pole as he and Woodstock walk along some cobblestones. They stop by the water's edge. They sit with an open can nearby. Snoopy starts to fish. The worms inside of the can call,"PSST!" Woodstock hears. He walks over to the can. He looks inside of the can. Snoopy smiles and thinks, "That was pretty good . . . Maybe I'm a 'Mourning warble First appearance: December 14th, 1995 Snoopy, dressed as Santa Claus, rings a bell. Rerun asks, "Why don't you get rid of that bell so you can hear what I want for Christmas?" Snoopy tosses the bell into a brick well. A starry eyed Woodstock emerges from the well. First appearance: December 31st, 1997 Snoopy and Woodstock sit atop the dog house under the full moon wearing party hats. Woodstock says something. Snoopy says, "What do you mean, we're all out of hor d'oeurves?!" A crowd of Woodstock's friends swarms around the base of the dog house, enjoying the New Year's party. Latest appearance: July 17th, 2002 / First appearance: July 19th, 1972 Lucy and Woodstock stand next to the tree. Lucy looks up and shouts, "What are you doing up in that tree?" Linus climbs in the tree and says, "Looking for something . . . Can you see Snoopy? We climbed up here together, but now I don't see him . . ." Lucy says, "Beagles can't climb trees . ." Woodstock runs after the football. The football hits Woodstock on the head. Snoopy thinks, "Fortunately, there was a flag on the play . ." Latest appearance: January 29th, 2017 / First appearance: February 1st, 1970 Peppermint Patty walks sown a doorstep into the snow. Peppermint Patty leans down and opens her hand. "Here, bird...I brought you some bread crumbs..." She kneels. She says, "Pardon my fingers, as they say.." Woodstock leans towards Peppermint Patty. They sit there. "BLEAH!" says Woodstock and turns away. Pepermint Patty watches as Woodstock walks away. First appearance: April 4th, 1976 Snoopy lies on his back atop his doghouse sleeping. He wakes up as it starts to rain. He sits up and holds his hand up to the rain, whiles looking up. He jumps down from the doghouse. He walks over to Woodstock sitting in his nest in a tree in the rain. Snoopy takes the nest, with Woodstock in it, down from the tree. Snoopy walks off as Woodstock and First appearance: February 24th, 1993 Woodstock and Snoopy stare at a snowball. Snoopy thinks, "Well, I imagine the reason you can't throw a snowball is you don't have any hands . ." Snoopy thinks, "Of course, you could always, just 'wing' it!" Snoopy laughs. Woodstock kicks the snowball and it hits Snoopy in the ear. First appearance: April 18th, 1990 Woodstock wears a crown on his head. Snoopy points and thinks, "Now, go out there, and show everyone that you're the king of the jungle!" Woodstock asks a question. Snoopy rolls his eyes and thinks, "Well, sure . . You may have to cross the street . ." Latest appearance: May 18th, 1997 / First appearance: May 18th, 1997 Woodstock jumps through a tube. Woodstock runs toward a trap door in a small castle. Woodstock jumps through another tube and lands next to a hole. Woodstock runs past a small windmill. Woodstock slides down a chute and lands next to a pond. Woodstock runs toward three little tunnels and falls out a tube on the other side. Woodstock sits on Snoopy's First appearance: April 30th, 1976 Snoopy and Woodstock sit on the doghouse. Snoopy thinks, "Hey, cat! Woodstock has a little poem for you . . ." Woodstock says, "Meow!" Snoopy and Woodstock get slashed. The doghouse is almost completely shredded. Woodstock wears a helmet and walks toward Sally. Sally and the class clap. Sally stands next to Woodstock and says, "I've asked our hero to say a few words about the thrilling rescue . . . . . . Snoopy walks and thinks, "I said we're going out to kick around the ol' pigskin . ." Snoopy thinks, "I didn't says 'beagleskin'!" Woodstock smirks. First appearance: September 17th, 1998 Marcie sits at her desk in school. Peppermint Patty sleeps at the desk in front of Marcie. Marcie says, "Yes, ma'am... I'm sure she's asleep." Marcie says, "Should I wake her up?" Peppermin Patty's head falls backward onto Marcie's desk. Marcie says, "I think it's time for her ten o'clock feeding.." Latest appearance: September 14th, 2014 / First appearance: September 17th, 1967 Charlie Brown stands on the pitcher's mound and stares at the field. He says, "Nine home runs in a row!! Good grief!" He throws his head back and wails, "What can I do?!!" Schroeder stands below him on the slope of the mound. Woodstock knows that he is very small and inconsequential indeed. It’s a problem we all have. The universe boggles us…Woodstock is a lighthearted expression of that idea.
