Woodstock

  • First appearance: April 4, 1967
  • The fluttering, sometimes sputtering, little yellow bird is Snoopy’s sidekick, whether it’s as faithful mechanic to the World War I Flying Ace, stalwart secretary to the Head Beagle, or root beer drinking buddy. Chirping in a language only Snoopy understands, Woodstock and his feathered friends are never far from Snoopy’s doghouse.

First appearance: June 26th, 1995 Woodstock sits on a tree stump. Snoopy leans against a tree and thinks, "You're emotionally bankrupt . . . Scott Fitzgerald was emotionally bankrupt . . . Snoopy thinks, "If you are about to dive into my water dish, may I remind you that said dish is empty!" Woodstock grabs the edge of the doghouse. Woodstock speaks. Snoopy thinks, "You're welcome." Snoopy and Woodstock and his friends are marching up the hill. Snoopy thinks, "Here's the world famous sergeant of the foreign legion leading his troops into battle...." I'm tough!" Snoopy grits his teeth and thinks, "I eat goalies!" First appearance: December 13th, 1997 Linus, Charlie Brown and Snoopy lean against a stone wall. Linus says, "And did you buy her the gloves?" Charlie Brown says, "Sure. I sold my whole comic book collection to get the money." He says, "Then I met her in the store and she showed me the new pair of gloves she'd just bought!" Linus says, "So you're not going to give her the pair you bought?" Charlie Brown waves his hands Latest appearance: December 10th, 2014 / First appearance: December 13th, 1967 Schroeder plays the piano. Linus leans on the piano and says, "I'm taking up a collection to send Snoopy to the olympics . ." Schroeder asks, "How much do you have so far?" Linus looks in the jar and replies, "Eighteen cents." Schroeder says, "Eighteen cents?! How in the world is he going to get to France on eighteen cents?" Linus asks, "Does he have to go first-class?" First appearance: December 13th, 1981 Marcie sits at her classroom desk watching Peppermint Patty, who is sitting in front of her, start to fall asleep. Marcie writes and says, "Nine forty-five...first signs of drowsiness." She says, "I'm making a study of your in-school sleeping habits, sir." Peppermint Patty falls asleep with her head resting on Marcie's desk. The latter says, "Backwards seems okay..." She First appearance: December 13th, 1989 Marcie stands with The World War I Flying Ace and asks, "Have I ever told the World War I Flying Ace how much I admire his beautiful scarf?" The World War I Flying Ace puckers up and thinks, "Perhaps the Flying Ace might be willing to trade it for a little kiss . . ." Snoopy stands wrapped up in the scarf.
Woodstock knows that he is very small and inconsequential indeed. It’s a problem we all have. The universe boggles us…Woodstock is a lighthearted expression of that idea.
