Woodstock

  • First appearance: April 4, 1967
  • The fluttering, sometimes sputtering, little yellow bird is Snoopy’s sidekick, whether it’s as faithful mechanic to the World War I Flying Ace, stalwart secretary to the Head Beagle, or root beer drinking buddy. Chirping in a language only Snoopy understands, Woodstock and his feathered friends are never far from Snoopy’s doghouse.

  • Did you know: Woodstock was first seen in the strip in 1967 but was named in 1970 after the summer music festival.
Woodstock
First appearance: May 12th, 1986 The Beaglescout stands with Woodstock and other scouts in the forest. The Beaglescout thinks, "Does everyone have his canteen filled?" The Beaglescout thinks, "You can't go on a long hike like this without water." Snoopy thinks, "Always remember . . . Water is our friend . ." They stand in the pouring rain. Snoopy thinks, "Thanks, friend." First appearance: July 15th, 1972 Linus, Snoopy and Woodstock stand next to a tree and look up. Linus says, "It looks like we're going to have to climb the tree . . ." Linus continues, "The only way to find out who's in Woodstock's nest is to climb this tree and see for ourselves . . ." Linus says, "So if you'll give me a little boost, and Woodstock gives you a little boost, I think we can do it . . ." Snoo First appearance: June 3rd, 1985 The Literary Ace types, "Dear Miss Manners." Woodstock flies toward the Literary Ace. Woodstock lands on the Literary Ace's nose. The Literary Ace thinks, "Is it polite for a friend to sit on your nose?" The Literary Ace has trouble typing, "Please excuse my typpimg." Woodstock continues to sit on his nose. Snoopy tries to type, "When he's sitting th*re, i kant seee." First appearance: November 14th, 1976 Woodstock stands in a field and slowly, the falling snow covers him up until only his eyes show. He walks through the snow to Snoopy's doghouse. Snoopy says, "It's because you stood still.. if you move around, the snow won't stick to you.." Woodstock hops around, flying just above the ground, but he stops to catch his breath and is buried again. Latest appearance: April 23rd, 2017 / First appearance: April 26th, 1970 Snoopy and Woodstock stand with their backs to each other, looking at the sky as rain starts to fall. Peppermint Patty walks along, carrying an umbrella which shields her from the heavy rain. Snoopy also walks, carrying an umbrella. Woodstock does the same. Peppermint patty stands still, holding her umbrella. The rain has stopped. She shakes out her umbrella First appearance: November 11th, 1978 The World Famous Football Star kicks a football. Woodstock waits for the football. Woodstock gets knocked over by the ball. Snoopy thinks, "That's gonna cut down on the endorsements." First appearance: February 1st, 1977 Woodstock wears a helmet and approaches Snoopy. Snoopy, as a helicopter, lifts off the ground. Woodstock is the pilot. Snoopy turns in the air. Snoopy takes off and flies away. First appearance: August 10th, 1979 Beaglescout hikes behind Woodstock and friends. He thinks, "As we cross the desert, I am reminded of a trivia question." Beaglescout continues to think, "'Beau Geste' was filmed three times . . . Who were the actors who played the sergeant?" Olivier speaks. Beaglescout thinks, "Noah Beery, Brian Donlevy and Telly Savalas." Snoopy thinks, "Rats! How did he know that?" First appearance: November 13th, 1977 Snoopy and Woodstock are walking along. They pass some leaves on the ground and Snoopy smiles thinking,"Ah, what a beautiful day!" He thinks,"I think everybody enjoys taking a walk through the leaves on a brisk fall day...." As they continue to walk along, Woodstock exclaims as he disappears under the leaves. Snoopy turns to a puzzled, hidden Woodstock. Snoopy watc First appearance: August 16th, 1997 Snoopy, with Fedora hat on fishing pole in hand, sits at the side of a stream, fishing. He thinks to Woodstock, "If I get a bite, grab the net.." Snoopy's line jerks, he thinks, "Now!" and Woodstock runs for the net. Woodstock throws the net over Snoopy's head. First appearance: January 9th, 1977 Woodstock and Snoopy are sitting atop the doghouse. The latter thinks,"Then she heard someone talking...." Snoopy continues,"And when Alice looked up, there was the chesire cat!" He thinks,"You've never seen me do my chesire beagle trick, have you?" He smiles broadly. His body disappears and only his head remains. He disappears except for his teeth. Latest appearance: December 29th, 2016 / First appearance: January 1st, 1970 Snoopy and Woodstock dance. Snoopy thinks, "This is our 'Happy New Year' dance." Snoopy thinks, "It symbolizes our best wishes for a wonderful year to all creatures." Woodstock and Snoopy stop dancing and glare. "Except cats!" Snoopy and Woodstock dance and laugh (giggle). First appearance: December 30th, 1988 Snoopy sits on his doghouse and thinks, "I like to watch the birds flying south for the winter . ." Snoopy thinks, "I admire the way they all travel together . . ." Woodstock and several birds fly in a hot air balloon. First appearance: January 2nd, 1987 Woodstock sits in his nest. Snoopy is dismayed to see his calendar in the garbage. Snoopy thinks, "You threw away the calendar I gave you!" Snoopy looks at it and thinks, "It has pictures of beagles on every page! Beagles jumping over fences! Beagles running across fields! Beagles winning 'best-in-show'!" Snoopy thinks, "How could you do such a thing?!" Woodstock responds. First appearance: June 27th, 1985 Woodstock looks into Snoopy's empty food dish and speaks. Snoopy thinks, "Really?" Snoopy thinks, "Tell me more . ." Snoopy holds his food dish and thinks, "Woodstock reads supper dishes!" First appearance: July 30th, 1972 The Literary Ace gazes up at the sky with his paw under his chin. Woodstock flies towards him from behind. He types, "A Tale of Two Cities" Woodstock is perched right behind him. Woodstock stands on top of the typewriter and speaks. Snoopy thinks, "Really?" Snoopy sits and thinks. He types, "Of Human Bondage" Woodstock watches. Woodstock speaks. Snoopy think First appearance: October 10th, 1990 Schroeder sits in front of the piano. Woodstock and another bird race along the music staff. Schroeder says, "No, thank you . . I'm not interested in awarding the winning trophy . ." First appearance: July 14th, 1975 Woodstock flies upside down. Woodstock flies upside down past Snoopy. Woodstock continues to fly upside down. Woodstock sits in his nest upside down. His head sticks out of the bottom. First appearance: March 20th, 1980 Woodstock and Snoopy sit on the doghouse. Woodstock speaks. Snoopy speaks and asks a question. Woodstock speaks. Snoopy speaks. Snoopy thinks, "I think it's too late for me to learn a second language." First appearance: October 16th, 1997 Snoopy types, "And so, Andy and Olaf set off once again to find their brother Spike." Snoopy types, "This time, however, I provided them with an experienced guide to show them the way." And and Olaf carry their hobo bags and follow Woodstock who is dressed in his Beagle Scout uniform.

Frieda says, "I've come to you because I need professional help . . ." Frieda continues, "I get drepressed when I realize how other girls hate me, and yet I know it's only jealousy . . . It's plain jealousy!" Frieda says, "They only hate me because I have naturally curly hair . . . They're jealous of me . . . What should I do?" First appearance: September 22nd, 1957 "NO!" Charlie Brown raises his arms and shouts at Lucy, who kneels on the grass, holding holding up a football. "Absolutely not!" He walks away. "You must think I'm crazy!" He adds. Lucy stands and faces him, still holding the football. "You say you'll hold the ball, but you WON'T! You'll pull it away, and I'll break my neck!" Peppermint Patty reads a math book and says, "'To divide fractions use the reciprocal and multiply.'" Peppermint Patty asks, "Why?" Marcie asks, "Why use the reciprocal?" Peppermint Patty says, "No, why was I born?" First appearance: September 22nd, 1956 Lucy approaches Charlie Brown holding out an object. She exclaims, "Look! My dad bought me a stuffed dog!" Charlie Brown asks, "Gee! Is it a real stuffed dog, Lucy?" She replies, "Of course, it's a real stuffed dog! No, I mean it isn't a real dog because it's stuffed, and it's...well...I mean.." She continues flustered, "What I mean is that it's stuffed and it's real, but yet, it First appearance: September 22nd, 1989 Marcie reads a book. Woodstock knows that he is very small and inconsequential indeed. It’s a problem we all have. The universe boggles us…Woodstock is a lighthearted expression of that idea.
