Floyd

Floyd notices Marcie while on the bus to summer camp, is immediately smitten by her, and begins to call her “Lambcake.” To Floyd, it’s meant as a term of affection. To Marcie, it sounds like fingernails scraping across a blackboard. She can’t stand the nickname. In fact, she assumes he’s making fun of her. Floyd is determined to win Marcie’s heart and continues to call her “Lambcake”…until she shoves him off the dock. Floyd promises to write to Marcie after summer’s end, but she fails to provide him with her last name or address. As his bus speeds away from camp, Floyd realizes that he’s lost his “Lambcake.”
