The Caddymaster

The belligerent Caddymaster rules the pro shop at the Ace Country Club with an iron fist—or at least a nine-iron. When Peppermint Patty and Marcie apply for summer jobs at the club, the Caddymaster disparages them for being girls, then assigns them the difficult task of caddying for Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Bartley, well known for their heavy golf bags and constant arguments. Peppermint Patty and Marcie quit after four grueling holes, and the Caddymaster insists on receiving fifty percent of their day’s pay. When he rejects their counteroffer of ten percent and threatens Marcie, Peppermint Patty slugs him.
