Maynard

In an effort to pull up Peppermint Patty’s D-minus average in school, her father hires Marcie’s cousin, Maynard, as her tutor. Maynard’s condescending attitude and arrogance don’t sit well with Peppermint Patty, who resents the implication that she needs help in school in the first place. Their relationship gets off to a rocky start when Peppermint Patty insists on calling him “Joe Sarcasm” and “Captain Tutor.” Their session ends abruptly when she realizes that he’s being paid to help her, rather than offering assistance out of “the goodness of [his] heart.”
